Bank Secrecy Act

Bank Secrecy Act Examination Manual

Reaffirms the Federal Reserve's long-standing commitment to combating money laundering and ensuring compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act and related requirements regarding the reporting of suspicious activity by domestic and foreign banking organizations supervised by the Federal Reserve.

The federal government is continuing to emphasize compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act as part of its comprehensive efforts against drugs, drug dealers and terrorism. Banks that fail to comply with the Bank Secrecy Act could find themselves in significant legal trouble, not only with their immediate regulator but with the Department of the Treasury and the Department of Justice.
