Kilclare
Software constantly strives to improve and enhance VISUAL Assurance.
VISUAL Assurance evolved from a product that KILCLARE Software developed
in the mid 80's called the Automated Audit Program Generator ("APG").
The inspiration and motivation for this DOS software product came from
the requirements of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (which required
by law that US corporations maintain proper control systems). All the
then Big 8 accounting firms brought out their own paper-based 'best
practice' internal control guidelines in response to the FCPA. Kilclare's
APG software was used by Coopers & Lybrand and other accounting
firms worldwide.
The work of the
Treadway Commission in the late 1980's inspired the evolution of
the
APG program into a control and compliance self-assessment program variously
known as Control & Compliance ("CC") and Corporate
Framework ("CF"). This DOS product evolved on an iterative
basis into the Windows based VISUAL Assurance 1.0, VA1.5, VA2.0,
VA2.5 and more recently the VA3 series.

In December 1999
Kilclare discontinued support for VA1.5 and released VA2, which
gave
VA a significantly new look and provided easier navigation and data
input. Creating new knowledgebases or customizing existing ones
also
became significantly easier as VA2's powerful authoring facility replaced
the Build and Apply utilities of VA1.5. VA2 also saw the addition
of
an internal security administration module. In 2005 Kilclare added
the latest PCAOB & SEC rulings to enhance VA3.0.
For network users
of VA it is important to note that, with release 3, VA became a
thin Client, n-tier
application. This has minimized previous
network bandwidth issues and resulted in a much more efficient use
of
distributed processing power. Kilclare supports the Nexus database
server. VA3 does
not
require a dedicated database server. VA3 continues to support stand-alone
installations on single PC's using NexusDB as the default database.
Kilclare Software
always attempts to balance the need for enhanced functionality with
the effort required of clients in performing system upgrades. Click
