Installation
Options
Stand
Alone Configuration
The non-networked
method of installing VISUAL Assurance ("VA") is the single-user
or Stand Alone setup. In this setup, an individual machine holds
the
VA program and the data. Sharing data amongst work groups in this environment
is accomplished by using the Export and Import functions. The stand
alone license allows for the installation on a single computer and
includes Nexus as its database.
Network
Configuration
The most common installation type for VA is the network setup. The
VA Client application is placed on any number of Workstations,
the VA Server application is placed on an Application Server and
the
database used by VA
is placed on a database server. Individual users of VA install the
program on their own network-linked PCs, choosing the Workstation
option.
The network version includes the Nexus Database.
Internet
Configuration
Intranet- or Internet-based installations are possible by configuring
the desktop client to access the remote server. The VA 3 client
uses TCP/IP to connect to the server across the intranet/extranet,
LAN or WAN and is designed for zero-administration.
